In The 4400, Richard plays Marco Pacella, the smart guy in charge of NTAC’s theory room. He’s always the one called on to help Tom and Diana, and it was Marco who came up with the theory that the return of each 4400, and the use of their abilities, would cause a “ripple effect”. Since then, he’s helped them countless times, often even putting his job on the line – for example, when he created a “fake” version of Maia’s diary for Diana to give to NTAC, in order to protect her daughter’s privacy.
Marco has long had a crush on Diana, and in the season two finale that progressed into a relationship. We saw the two of them together a few times, until the season three episode “Blink”, in which a 4400 ability causing Diana to have hallucinations made her rethink the relationship and her feelings for Marco. Though the actual break-up scene wasn’t shown, we’ve since seen the awkwardness between the two of them return to the friendship they had before.
At one point in season three, Maia predicted Marco’s future death in her diary. He didn’t seem too perturbed by it, and in fact commented that he thought the way he dies is “actually pretty cool.”
The 4400 Seasons 1 & 2 companion book was released in June 2007. It’s a great read, and I thoroughly recommend that you go out and buy it – but to whet your appetite a little, here are a few quotes from the book.
You can also read some quotes and snippets of other cast and crew members talking about Richard and Marco.
